Associate, registered clinical counsellor

Carrie Craig

Counselling can serve as a conduit to positive change. Whether you are navigating a major life change, struggling with grief, or in a challenging relationship, counselling can be a great step in making the changes you wish to see.

My hope as a counsellor is to support others in working through their own journeys of pain, discomfort, and growth. Through the creation of a trusting and empathetic relationship, clients are provided with the opportunity to feel heard and valued. This provides the foundation for self-awareness, confidence, and growth. Together, we will develop a collaborative process where you feel you can build upon your strengths and find success. You are the person who decides where the journey will take you, I am the person who will help you build the roads to get there.

A few things about Carrie…

Prior to becoming a clinical counsellor, I worked in the field of education as a high school teacher in both Scotland and Canada for over twenty years. Working in schools has shown me the huge impact having a safe, non-judgemental space to talk through challenges can have on helping people reach their full potential. My transition to the counselling field was built on my desire to continue to build strong relationships and help others to achieve a sense of personal growth. I feel very fortunate and grateful for the trust placed in me by my clients.

I start from a place of curiosity, taking the time to learn more about you. Understanding your strengths, your struggles, and your hopes for the future help to build a greater understanding of where you are coming from and what you hope to achieve. Through humor, warmth, and kindness, my aim is to create a trusting relationship where you are able to share your experiences and explore new perspectives

I would be happy to organize a complimentary consultation with you to discuss your hopes and how we might work together in the counselling process.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

While I take a general approach to counselling, I have developed a few areas of focus:

  • Grief and Loss: Losing a loved one can feel overwhelming and devastating and I place importance on creating a safe space where those experiencing grief can work through their emotions.

  • Life Transitions: Navigating life changes, even those that are exciting, can be daunting and overwhelming. I support clients through changes in employment, relationship status, or major moves by working collaboratively to support the client in finding a path forward that feels right for them.

  • Self-Esteem: Sometimes the challenge we face as we move through the world can impact our self-esteem and self-confidence. Working from a strengths-based approach supports clients to find self-compassion and develop a greater sense of confidence and resilience.
