Arbutus Team
Founder, Registered clinical counsellor
Johanna Wickie
I work with individuals dealing with challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, addictions, and significant life changes and events. I have extensive experience working with youth, couples, and families, including blended families and couples going through separation and divorce. I also work with individuals seeking career-related support.
Prior to my counselling career, I had a diverse professional background with almost two decades of service in the Canadian Forces, a decade in the business sector, and a Master of Business Administration.

ASSOCIATE, REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR
Carrie Craig
Counselling can serve as a conduit to positive change. Whether you are navigating a major life change, struggling with grief, or in a challenging relationship, counselling can be a great step in making the changes you wish to see.
My hope as a counsellor is to support others in working through their own journeys of pain, discomfort, and growth. Through the creation of a trusting and empathetic relationship, clients are provided with the opportunity to feel heard and valued. This provides the foundation for self-awareness, confidence, and growth. Together, we will develop a collaborative process where you feel you can build upon your strengths and find success. You are the person who decides where the journey will take you, I am the person who will help you build the roads to get there.

Graduate Intern Therapist
Eric Lai
Life has taught me that things don’t always go as planned. Over time, I have come to embrace these moments as opportunities to realign and find a new way. Life is often uneven and bumpy and there is value in slowing down, being present, and finding joy in the simple things. I am committed in my efforts to help others do the same—finding peace, reconnecting with self, and discovering our true path.
My mission has always been to support my community—both locally and globally—in meaningful ways. My focus is on supporting and guiding people in helping them untangle what might be holding them back. Our work together will be about creating positive change through collaboration that is driven by you. It will feel challenging but it will also be rewarding. I commit to being curious, kind and encouraging so you can feel stronger, lighter, and more resilient.

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR
RisA Yokoi
With six years of administration expertise specific to the counselling field, I find true joy in helping to make administrative details seamless, thus making the counselling process that much more comfortable for clients and clinicians. My responsibilities allow for more energy and focus to be placed on the client's therapeutic journey. My role at Arbutus Counselling is built on my long standing working relationship with Johanna and my aligned values with her commitment to care for meeting people “where they are”.
I too appreciate the challenges of change, with my upbringing living in various countries and relocating to Canada over a decade ago myself.
As the Administrative Coordinator for Arbutus Counselling, I am here to provide support to our clients and clinicians for requests and inquiries related to appointment bookings, billings, and anything else I may be able to assist with. Please reach out to me if you require assistance in any of these areas. My aim is to make your experience at Arbutus Counselling as smooth and pleasant as possible and I look forward to assisting you.

PUPPY IN RESIDENCE
BRU
Bru, the youngest member of the Arbutus Counselling team, came to Vancouver via Seoul, Korea in 2021 through a Korean based rescue association. Bru is an eight pound Yorkshire Terrier who is very happy to visit and connect with clients as often as he is able. Bru is a hypo-allergenic and extremely friendly dog, who hopes to visit with any client who might be open to some unconditional friendship.
Bru works with Johanna mainly in the mornings. If you happen to have any specific concerns about having Bru in the office, please let Johanna know and she will work to address these concerns or make other arrangements that are suitable to you.
